Contrary to the photo’s caption, the colour comes from rock silt (which is itself the result of glaciers scraping the mountains as the slide downwards) that lies not at the bottom of the lake, but is suspended in the water.

How do I get into these views? From the GoogleMaps site itself?

I’ve been trying to see some of this stuff ever since they mapped the Grand Canyon, and never seem to be able to figure it out. I feel so duuuummmb.

Man, I love GeoGuesser! I could spend hours on that site. It just got more challenging. Thanks, Google!
