Reminds me of the old SimCity, which was not only 8-bit, it achieved its animations by color-pallette cycling - an incredibly clever hack.

It’s weirdly cool to see pixel-based digital art used as book illustrations. If you look closely enough, is each pixel block made up of little colored dots from the printing process?
