“Classy” as in “Don’t worry about those nude photos we’re going to take, they’re gonna be classy.”

He has at lease 239 supporters…
Honor Donald Trump for opposing White Genocide | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government

Those carrying out White Genocide say they're anti-racist. What they are is anti-White. Anti-racist is a code word for anti-White. Diversity is a code word for White Genocide.

It’s different when you’re referring to things/places vs people. If you’re referring to a place or thing as classy, it generally means ‘fancy’ or ‘upscale’ or ‘sophisticated’. When Trump uses it, referring to one of his properties or whatever, this usually means there is a lot of gaudy gold-trimmed stuff that looks expensive. So if you’re poor and have ‘no taste’, you look around and go, ‘gee this place is so classy’.

When you are referring to a person who ‘has class’ or ‘is classy’, it generally means they act respectfully towards others and are well-behaved in public. So a Trump hotel may be technically be considered classy because of the opulence (though your tastes my vary), but Trumps behavior as a person is the exact opposite of classy. You would say he, personally, has no class.

As I see it, if Trump actually did become President, and it was a train wreck, then what?

I imagine the same people who think Trump would make a good President would also be clueless enough to blame everyone but him if his Presidency stank.

Yeltsin was tired and emotional a lot of the time. Trump is just an arsehole.

I’m going to say it again - You can be a socialist and anti-state. I don’t know if that applies to Lewis Black though.

I am dead serious- if this (cl)asshole is actually elected, I will revoke my citizenship. W was bad enough. I’m still recovering from all that idiot did to my country. If Trump is elected, we really have devolved towards the Idiocracy.

I mean it. I have been thinking about it seriously ever since Abu Graib and Guantanamo. The last 14 years has been a living hell in America for people that care about the country, and while I believed the right thing was to change it from the inside, Trump is the line I will not cross.

If he’s elected, I speak Japanese- I will find a way to become a Japanese citizen, until I can learn enough Swiss german to move to switzerland (they actually need watchmakers badly, I could work there maybe) or another country maybe.

If my country elects this outstanding buffoon, I will take it to mean that the populace’s stupidity has reached critical mass from which hope is irrecoverable. It was bad enough I fell for Obama and gladly helped elect him, only to see what could have been the greatest president of my lifetime go back on all the pledges that were important to me, and basically become a more likeable George W.

I will not take this asshole being elected. It’s not a popularity contest! It’s deciding who will do the best job! Why is understanding that basic concept so fucking impossible for people???

Eh - good luck with that. Both Japan and Europe are bigger sticklers on immigrants than the US. Unless you can get a work visa, entering and living legally is a lot harder than you would expect. Though I have met illegal Americans in my short travels to Europe.

When I was kid in the 70s-80s, I often saw this when people would put these tacky “touch of class” license plates on their cars (egad, they still exist…):

They were never on impressive cars, like a Ferrari, Bentley, or whatever. They were usually on huge 'Merikun “boat-on-wheels” sedans such as Buicks, Lincolns, and Oldsmobiles. Sometimes even on huge station wagons with fake wood-grain detailing and spoked-wheel hubcaps. Always lipstick-on-a-pig treatments to superficially hint at signifiers of opulence.

I have already lived and worked with a valid working visa in Japan. Lived there 3 times. 2 separate cities, 2 jobs, once attended college there for a year, and lived with a host family. At one point, was homeless and technically illegal with a working visa but no job- tried to go private teacher, and returned just as the recession hit, and the market was wiped out when 2 weeks earlier there were many job postings. And I was over-qualified for what I tried to find work in, with my Japanese degree.

The homeless part solved by an incredible friend, and his wealthy family that owned an apartment block. Still, had people bringing me canned goods because I had to choose between rice or heating oil. Or nothing sometimes.

Commuted 3 hours to the countryside using 4 different modes of transport one way to work for a pittance in the middle of fucking winter for months. Looked for work without work in the middle of winter, for 9 months, basically next to Siberia in latitude. So yeah, somewhat involved and familiar with the Japanese beauracracy and immigration system, and the legal documents. Not enough to do it entirely on my own, but familiar enough.

And that was before going to school for a couple years to learn watchmaking.

Been there, done that. If I can do any of that, I can do anything. And I will- to avoid living in a country ruled by Donald Trump. I don’t post to spew bullshit- I post when I feel it’s meaningful. And I was dead fucking serious man.

Some people whine with no options. I have options, and I will take them, and leave my homeland without one more intelligent citizen if it fucks me over one. more. time.

I’ve never heard that line before. But there is a quote widely attributed to Steinbeck that goes something like “Communism never took hold among the poor and downtrodden in America, because they don’t see themselves as destitute, but rather temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

It’s only a dog whistle if only dogs can hear it.
If it’s friggin obvious to everyone then it’s just a whistle.

I think his supporters are talking about how he’ll change up the decor. Gild that dome up on that US Capitol building all in the shiny gold. Solid Gold fixtures everywhere in the White House, which he will rename to “It doesn’t say Brown House!!!111”

Australia is currently run by an Arsehole. We have what you dread.
You know what? Politics is just a part of society. The world moves along. Politicians do and say horrible things, but they are mainly an irritating 10 minutes on the news at night.

The good bits, the good people, of your country remain good.

I supposed a horrible US President has far more capacity to start big nasty wars than an Australian Prime Minister. But doesn’t matter where you go, that will affect you anyway.
