Clearly 3d rendered. The sky looks a little Brycean.

Yeah my first reaction was “WTF, shitty CG made by clicking all the default buttons.”

But you know what? It’s beautiful.
I make CG for a living, so it’s easy for me to confuse Simple with Bad.
Thanks for sharing!

that, and there is no reflection of the photographer or camera.

Still lovely.

If it was real, I would suspect Chihuly as the artist.

“Discovered” in this case means that he discovered the URL to the image sharing page.

A Culture Drone.

Just to clarify, this was quite tongue in cheek and not created with a view toward being “real”. Just fun.
For anyone interested the knot shape was made in Knotplot and the scene created in Vue. Rendering was Vue’s new sunlight renderer.
Not really just pushing presets, a little more care and time was taken than that, although I admit that I used less precision than usual on painting in the ecosystem grasses. I do have a baby and a toddler, so art time is short.

Nice tip. Thank you. I’m going to have fun with that.
