“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” does not at first or even twentieth glance read as “people should be allowed to own as much weaponry as they want in case the government turns evil”.

Also, if the right-wingers who interpret the Amendment that way are really worried about a tyrannical government then shouldn’t they be AGAINST a ridiculously huge and well-equipped military instead of in favor of it?
