67 horses have died from an "unknown and highly contagious disease at a Colorado facility

This is naïve, I’m afraid. All wild animals have contact with humans. We have to manage them to keep them alive because we are close to them everywhere and their remaining populations are small. The management we are doing is the only reason a great many wild areas still exist at all. That doesn’t mean we always get it right, but it’s this or everything dies. Those are the choices on a planet with 8 billion people.
