The standards for editing have changed since the ‘80s, for the better. Compare the cuts in Yes, Madam to those in Atomic Blonde:
That is of course a standout (though it’s hardly alone; other examples that come to mind are Oldboy and Netflix’ Daredevil). I don’t know of any 1980s HK cinema that let one see what’s going on as well as these. Jackie Chan comes pretty close.
