A Round Up of Resistance to Trump (Part 1)

to me the closest analog for the 45th president would be juan peron except that peron actually did things which helped his supporters along the way.

Ill of the Dead

.@MeghanMcCain addresses Pres. Trump’s Saturday tweet criticizing her father Sen. John McCain:

“He spends his weekend obsessing over great men because he knows it and I know it and all of you know it — he will never be a great man.https://t.co/p6oiZYUr74pic.twitter.com/8HSpllAcEz

I’d love to see her slap that orange murkin across the face.

She does keep leveling off both barrels at his ego:

No one will ever love you…

He will never be a great man…

Interesting read. No easy answers, because there are no easy answers to get people to stop aligning themselves with parties that do not care if they live or die, but interesting.

I’d say that newspeak is the key part in 1984.
The surveillance apparatus is important as a tool to keep everyone in check, but at the end of the day trivial.
Preventing people from even thinking dissident thoughts by stripping them of the means to formulate anything independant/divergent from the norms set by the rulers is pure horrifying evil genius.

Along similar lines (I think) is Strangers in Their Own Land (I wasn’t familiar with it until I heard it mentioned the other day on Harry Shearer’s Le Show).

Hah, even me explaining Mutualism or some kind of market socialism it really leads to folks assuming I want commissars deciding production quotas and the like. It just seems to be ingrained with older folks that anything that doesn’t give them the chance to exploit others is anti-liberty even if it means they themselves are free from such exploitation.

FWIW the part that always stuck with me was the fighting over the “rough quadrilateral.” For all the fear of Big Brother watching us, the telescreens etc., that part was already happening when the book was written.

Dunno if it’s really resistance to Trump, per-se, but it works out that way.

So this happened:

In Wisconsin, a state judge has blocked legislation passed by lame-duck Republicans seeking to strip the incoming Democratic administration of power while protecting policies enacted by former Governor Scott Walker. A Dane County circuit court judge sided with civil rights groups who challenged the power grab as a legislative coup that violated Wisconsin’s Constitution. Republicans in Michigan and North Carolina passed similar bills after losses in recent elections.

(No need to follow the link; that’s all there is.)

the report has to be Bad - to Not Good. If it was all rosy it would have been passed to congress already. Instead they pulled an all-nighter redacting shit.

this is all we got:

While the report looks bad for trump, essentially he is off the hook for collusion and obstruction of justice. Time will tell how things fall out for him on the other crimes turned up during the investigation, but looks like he’s got lots of spin for the election. Expect him to go on and on about how innocent he is.

Trump directly is off the hook?
How about the rest of the campaign staff?

Yes, he’ll spin it as a win (and his supporters will inherently see it that way), despite the fact that it could be understood as basically saying that they just didn’t have enough evidence to move forward (which is how I’m reading it, partially). But it does look like there were specific recommendations sent to specific offices, which they’re not going to release information on because it’s still under investigation.

Either way…

I mean, 37 indictments, so there is that, I guess.

Yeah. Hairpiece is too out of it to be that on the ball about collusion/obstruction other than just spouting off bullshit his handlers will have to clean up for me to think they got any good direct links.
His staff and the arseholes who used him as a useful stooge though. I hope they have enough to show the campaign was compromised and they were in on it.
