A surprisingly detailed history of choker necklaces

Did not watch the video yet - but I was once told that the choker (Kropfband) that is part of some traditional Bavarian and Austrian costumes was worn for early diagnosis of pregnancy, since supposedly the larynx changes size at an onset of pregnancy. However, the stub in the German Wikipedia does not mention this, and instead suggests it developed in the Salzburger Land, an area where iodine deficiency was very common, to cover up a goitre (enlargement of the thyroid gland), or the scars from larynx surgery.
