There’s something darkly romantic about Siberia, large expanses of wilderness populated by small pockets of tough people, largely forgotten by the rest of the world. There have a been a few good films set in Siberia, recently “Siberia Monamour” and “Жить”, both excellent, and also Kurosawa’s 1975 adaptation of “Dersu Uzala.”
