Fresh from winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the boxer [2] Imane Khelif decided to take on a new fight: that of justice, dignity, and honour.
Ms Khelif contacted the office which yesterday filed a complaint for acts of aggravated cyber-harassment with the Online Hate Unit of the Paris Prosecutor’s Office.
The criminal investigation will determine who initiated this misogynistic, racist, and sexist campaign, but must also look into those who fed this digital lynching.
The unfair harassment suffered by the boxing champion [3] will remain the biggest stain on these Olympic Games

[1] The French legal system is different from the Anglophone system, and it has its own structure, but if you need a quick and dirty translation of Avocat à la Cour, then “barrister” (UK) or “attorney-at-law” (US), being someone trained in law (= juriste), who has the training to appear in court (avocat), and then more training to be qualified to present the case before a Judge (Avocat à la Cour).
