I’d love to buy stuff from my Friendly Local Hobby store. I’m willing to wait longer, and I’d even pay a bit of a premium to do so.
But there are two problems:
-
The service at the “friendly” local stores can usually be more accurately described as “surly”.
-
It isn’t “a bit” of a price premium. For example, an RC transmitter that costs $60 from HobbyKing is priced at $300+ in the local stores. $2 props go for $10, $20 ESCs at $100, etc.
As I said, I’ll happily pay a bit more to support local retailers. But I’m not paying a 400% markup.
