My language there at the end was meant to parody republican talking points and jingoistic American Exceptionalism. Maybe I needed a sarcasm tag… I think our points of view are probably pretty close to each other. As I see it the problem with outsourcing is mainly how it exploits cheap labor and bad conditions overseas, and is used to skirt important safety and environmental regulations. On the other side of the aisle, though, the general unpopularity of outsourcing gets twisted into frothing racism at the supposed inherent inferiority of “foreign” goods and services (see: “made in china” jokes) You and your compatriots are doubtless hard-working and skilled, but that doesn’t change the fact that this particular case of outsourcing equates to cutting corners.
