Shows what you know, and what you pay attention to. Prostitution and weed may be somewhat legal in the Netherlands, but that’s never been official advertising policy of Amsterdam. The excess is mainly due to “not impeding free enterprise”. They’ve been way too lax about tourism in general for years, but more recently they seem to have finally woken up to the fact that a city entirely focused on tourism is kind of a crap place to live.
