I was born and raised in the US in a house with no Mexican feel to it, and didn’t know any Mexicans we weren’t related to – i.e. I was on time for things. But I spent big chucks of many summers in Mexico with aunts, uncles, grandfather, and cousins. The Mexico time thing is real. And it was infuriating to me, even as a 13 year old. It took me a long time to understand the cultural differences regarding punctuality. Add to that the fact this was without the benefit of cellphones. I wonder if it’s still like that today down there. Guessing to some extent yes.
