Looking at their interaction (and her own lack of concern with mask wearing around the screaming idiot) I’m fairly certain she’s his friend or partner (travel companion in any case).
I don’t see her as especially heroic there, she’s mostly trying to avoid any more second hand embarrassment and the travel delay an arrest would bring.
