AP: In call with Mexican president, Trump threatened invasion. White House says it didn't happen

Sadly they’d both be right.

How could you tell with someone who has been a demented POS his entire life?

We just haven’t seen leaks yet of all the batshit things he said while watching Finding Dory. I can guarantee it was on a per-moment basis.

So, Trump denies it, the Mexicans deny it, and millions of Trump supporters can confirm their bias that everything in the press is a lie. (Although, there are probably plenty of Trumpkins who thought “fuck yeah! let’s invade!” when they first heard the story, so logically they would be disappointed if it’s not true.)

I have been assuming that he would exhaust himself battling with the giant, Stalinesque bureaucracy of Washington. It could still happen.

Hard for the chumps at the CIA to get anything down when they are still standing for Trump (Simon said to stand, and they are still waiting for “Simon says” to sit down)? Deal with first things first.

You’re talking about Trump and Washington’s bureaucracy, and it’s the bureaucracy which gets compared to Stalin?

You’re reaaal special.

Working on it. While impeachment may be in the hands of small-town-small-minded-rural-rednecks in congress, I think us real americans can start a series of monthly general strikes.

It appears the Dems are helpless and lack leadership. I just read that Hillary is writing a book, Obama’s on a well-deserved vacation…
It seems it’s up to the people, to lead, while the politicians try to keep up. It’s obvious we need new leaders.
I’m so tired and worried about where this country is going, and fear the Dems are trying to outwit an opponent that is playing with their own deck and their own rules.

This might have been misreported. Here’s what CNN says:

That’s amazing. We’re only two weeks into his Presidency, if he can keep this kind of thing up it’s only a matter of time before other world leaders just stop taking his calls (maybe that’s what he wants-- let Bannon or Pence handle it, “Finding Dory” is on.) It might also be just a matter of time before other world leaders stop being so diplomatic, and openly confirm leaked accounts: “Yes, he bragged about winning the election, threatened us, and then hung up.” Clearly being polite and diplomatic isn’t getting them anywhere with Trump.

Why have I NEVER HEARD OF THIS?! :triumph:

Isn’t the concept of asking the whitehouse to confirm or deny something a relic at this point?

He pissed off Australia now too. This is exactly what I thought would happen. I’ve said it a few times here. I worked for someone just like him – a very fragile ego, very insecure, he uses his wealth – and now his title – as a reason to demand reverence. And when he doesn’t get – and the threshold for “not getting it” is very low (doesn’t take much of anything – things normal people wouldn’t even notice) and then you’re on his shit list. Permanently. A very very trouble man is our president.

On the plus side Turnbull looks like the two-faced chump he is, so that’s always good.

And coverage from the Aussie Graun:

Another related bit of post-Katrina news you probably never heard: The Cuban government also immediately offered to send humanitarian aid to New Orleans but President Bush denied them permission to do so. They probably could have been there days before the US National Guard showed up (which might be why they were turned away—it wouldn’t stand for them to make our government look bad).

A more diplomatic President might have used the opportunity to start bridging the decades-old divide between our governments while helping Americans desperately in need of aid at the same time. Instead we left New Orleans to drown and kept the ineffective and inhumane embargo going well into the next President’s term.
