OK, serious critique of the trailer (which may or may not bode badly for the finished movie): is it really necessary to emphasize how easily Atlanteans can catch spears thrown at their faces? It’s a kind of cool move to do once, but showing the same move twice in the span of less than 40 seconds diminishes it a bit.
Remember the original trailer for Iron Man, in which the main character narrowly avoids getting hit by a round from a tank and then cooly dispatches a wrist missile to blow up the bad guys just before turning to walk away like a badass while it explodes behind him? Cool move, right?
Now imagine they added an extra shot to the trailer in which Ironmonger does exactly the same thing. Now the cool move is just dumb because it looks like everyone is doing it. Even worse, it suggests that there aren’t a whole lot of other cool moves happening in the movie itself.
