Further proof that the political “outrage” over such events is always, always an excuse to consolidate power and perpetuate cruelty. If a bunch of brown terrorists did it, it’s the worst thing in recorded history and they’ll go completely berserk. If it’s white domestic terrorism, police murders, or even better, deaths not even caused by human beings but by something like a hurricane or a virus, then the solutions involve actual change, progress and foresight rather than simply jacking up military budgets and stripping away civil liberties, so they straight-up ignore or even actively deny the problem.
