For some reason it brings to mind some Lovecraftian contraption for the automated devouring of souls. I wish I knew why; the only thing remotely similar that I’ve seen recently was the “Death of a Shadow” short film, and that’s pretty far off. Maybe I’m thinking of something from a Doctor Who episode?
