The technical report has a map which shows location of the the nearest gas wells 1.4 kilometres away, those are capped exploration and evaluation bores, as are all the petroleum bores within 5km. So; for the politician and/or press to say that there are fracked wells a km away makes me want citations, because either they know something that the government and industry has been hiding from us, or they are bullshitting.

It’s easy to find that Queensland has been in drought lately, with the drought beginning to abate 2010-2011 but then the flooding in 2012 making a huge change to the aquifers, which have been drawn down again in the subsequent drought. Both overpressure of replenishment and under pressure from normal human water use can cause seeps (As explained in the report).

Sorry for being unclear, site=gas-bore site. The only wells conceivably “just a km away” are the dormant never-fracked never-in-production Oranna 8-11 ones in the report, which while they are more than a km from the seep sites are less than a km from other parts of the river. To get CSG wells where extraction activity could be causing or exacerbating gas seeps, one has to go >5 km away to the production fields to the SW, seeps from that formation wouldn’t be appearing that far downhill in the river. And AFAIK that hasn’t been fracked either.
