Meh. Ratings come and go. It’s an institution - like SNL - that I hope sticks around through the ups and downs. I think there were a few storylines since the reboot that were a bit stilted and rather hamfisted with the politics aspect (again, I don’t think this is all that new), but overall, I thought every season since the reboot was just fine - given a choice of no Doctor Who, or some Doctor Who, I’ll take some.
I’d rather they would spend less time in contemporary Earth times as a general rule - but the show has always done that. You might say it won’t age as well, but then, the show did it in the 70s with Tom Baker, and some of those are my favorite: City of Death, Pyramids of Mars…When it comes to the body he ends up reincarnating in…shrug, who cares, as long as the writing and acting is good.
