Uh, this is BC and the interior of BC at that. The Interior of BC is full on crazy all the time. Those towns are very isolated (even worse in the winter), education is often poor, often depend on one source of employment that is usually seasonal so there’s lots of down time, drugs are widely available, they are inhabited by a mixed bag of conspiracists, religious nuts and the out right crazy. Blame the US or Canada if you like but this is really more its own thing.
