Except that was the point. The F-1 engine and other hardware was not meant for sustained operations, but to make an arbitrary deadline. Had the program requirements been different, the Saturn launcher might have been designed for serial production, and the production setup would have been viable long-term. But they weren’t, and they aren’t.
