There are fundamentalist Christians in the U.S. who also believe that the left hand is dirty, evil, and the hand of the devil. No, I’m not talking about 100 years ago…last time I came up against it personally was in the 1990’s, in a major city. So, using the left hand for anything ‘good’ like eating or writing is considered Satanic.
