Why bother? Because religion plays a large part of politics. Several candidates would like to the US as a theocracy. Furthermore, laws area continually passed restricting rights, based solely on particular belief systems. Plus, I’m uneasy having to coexist with people who believe the world is 600 years old, dinosaurs are satanic fiction, the Earth is flat and the center of the solar system, etc. You don’t see many billboards attacking Buddhism, because that religion isn’t trying to control people’s lives (here anyway). If people would keep their beliefs to themselves and not social policy, there wouldn’t have to be a public confrontation.
