Yes and no. The 900 MHz ISM band is shared by a myriad of applications. But the battery or energy-harvesting powered IoT-class sensors are very low-power. They cannot radiate much of energy as they are energy-limited. So their broadcasts will be quiet and short, easy to filter out. Tag readers have to shine bright and loud, and for a quite long time if not all the time. Think searchlights in the swarm of fireflies.
