Agreed, but that message isn’t working as well as it should because a substantial portion of the population seems to hate the status quo so much that they’re ok with risking everything to change it. Latching on to Trump’s “what the hell do you have to lose?” message despite the answer clearly being “quite a lot, actually!” for nearly every demographic of voters.
I’ve heard that the Harris campaign isn’t emphasizing the “we’ve got to save democracy!” message all that much because “democracy” is a vague and ill-defined concept for some people, and the reaction sometimes is “well what’s democracy done for me anyway? Might as well try something different.” Emphasizing the loss of freedoms is apparently more effective than messages about democracy.
