Yeah but - uh - removing all guard rails so you can deport anyone, control women’s bodies, oppress LGBTQ people, cement power into a one party system, control the courts, etc is a far far cry than upsetting the status quo by taxing the rich, medicare for all, decriminalize drugs, invest in non-fossil fuel energy, and put some checks on unmitigated capitalism.
I don’t mind “risking” upsetting the status quo - but only if that upset tilted a way that would make things better! (If you wondered if Trump might do that in 2016 as a wild card, you now know the answer to that is “no”.)
Yeah. I don’t know. I feel like the opening messaging was hitting a hell of a lot better than this Neoliberal / appeal to reasonable Conservatives. Yeah, sure, it’s great “reasonable” Republicans like Cheney or Geraldo are voting for Harris. Thanks.They shouldn’t be catering to them. They should be reaching out to independents and youth voters who want that actual status quo upset, not some handshake deal with conservatives to not fuck things up further. I guess this is to combat the talking points she is some radical Marxist - but anyone who believes that is so far gone there is no hope.
I swear to god, if they fumble this, it will be the most Democrat thing they have ever done.
