One problem—or feature, depending on your point of view—with crowdfunding, charity, and even mutual insurance, is that you get to decide who deserves to be cured, and you can exclude people that you don’t like or you don’t approve of.

I’m not sure it’s necessarily true with mutual insurance. Unless the USA managed to fuck up this concept too?
