He was well-known to runners (and former runners) on this side of the pond, too. I had some of his running apparel in the 80s and 90s. He lived a good life, was an amazing runner, and he was well-respected among his peers.

Dang. I remember when my kids had their first birthday we made it “Very Hungry Caterpillar” themed, complete with all the snacks from the book.

I choose to believe he didn’t “die” so much as sprout a beautiful new pair of wings and embark on a new adventure.
