I’ve been reading and enjoying Upfield’s mystery series the last few years. Each novel is set in a different part of Australia, usually in the small communities dotted across the harsh landscape. They often involve Aborigines and their dealings with the White settlers; written with more understanding and sympathy than one might expect from a mid-Twentieth century author.
The detective, “Bony,” is a bit of a superhero, but a lot of fun. If you like this kind of thing, you’ll like this kind of thing.
