Here’s a whole TV episode about Japanese sweets, produced by NHK World. The show’s overall quality is patchy–depends on the segment–but I especially recommend the “Kashiori Song” at 9:56, which illustrates some of the social context and importance of these (to US eyes, incredibly finicky) sweets.
