The sorts of people who think Habermas, Adorno, and Marcuse secretly control American culture through academia are the sorts of people who never read Habermas, Adorno, or Marcuse, and probably never could make it through a single one of their essays. There’s a reason the idea’s appealing to Glenn Beck, and it’s not intellectual rigor.
