Of course, drones, missiles and bombs are serious things, especially for those on the ground. But I think this attack was another attempt to save face, as they say in English, right?

Yeah, I think so. They even said that they’ll now considered the matter closed (the Iranians, I mean), but that’s gonna depend on whether or not Bibi decides the matter closed. 
This was a dangerous move by Tehran, and I suspect that they know it.

Yeah. I’m not an expert, obviously, but this seems like “Look, we’re doing something and taking this seriously!” move by the Iranians. A big,showy piece of action that doesn’t really escalate things and isn’t expected to do much damage.

With the missiles and drone attack, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said it now deemed the matter “concluded” and warned the Israel of a “considerably more severe” response should the “Israeli regime make another mistake”.
Certainly sounds to me like “we have made the minimum necessary show of force to assuage our need to show that we’ve made retribution, and we now consider the matter closed.”

I’ve read that probably the slow drones were used to saturate the defence systems such as the Patriot and Iron Dome and make the missiles more eficiente. Some people say It works well in Ukraine, but Israel and Its allies have much more air defence systems.
