Where I live it’s illegal to possess a rat (Alberta, CA). If you see one, you’re supposed to take it’s picture and call the “Rat Patrol”. Mostly works, too; Alberta is considered to be rat free. Neighbour Saskatchewan has a large population (EDIT: Of rats. Not very many people). Last time I drove through there, admittedly 30+ years ago, you would see them crossing the highway.
