A couple points about turning off your solar system when there is a power outage. This is a good thing.

Power supplied by solar fluctuates a lot. You don’t want various items of your house getting not quite enough power on a regular basis (like on a cloudy day). This is especially true for your AC system.

If your house is generating solar power, and you’re not using it 100% of the power, you’re feeding into the grid. If there are downed power lines, you are potentially making them unexpectedly live lines.
