Most of the ones I’ve seen are almost completely useless. Looking at an example I just found:
“Riverhead, NY AMBER Alert: LIC/(NY) Grey Hyundai Santa Fe SUV Sep 6, 7:24 AM”
Okay, so this one actually includes a municipal area, but that’s not always useful. (Chicago, you say? Well that narrows it right down …) No license plate on this one beyond a state, but even when one is included, I’m not going to remember that in 5 seconds.
Finally, a vehicle description, which might be useful for some people, I guess. I know this one is an SUV because it says so, but I have no idea what that looks like beyond that. For many of us, make and model doesn’t really mean much, and you may as well say “car,” it would be almost as useful.
I’m curious about the number of false reports these things generate and who gets to spend time weeding those out.
