Nice strawman attempt, everyone is well aware that it’s not a literal binary, most everyone else (aside from you it appears, who has trouble reading a dictionary properly) is also aware that it’s not a literal spectrum either, so if we are going to use one of the two terms figuratively it makes sense to use the one which most closely matches the reality, which is clearly the binary, this isn’t very complicated.
