You may be right that he was in a no-win situation as far as opinion of him on the boingboing bbs goes. That doesn’t mean that any action he took was equally right. Standing stoically while being molested and then pressing charges is higher on the right-to-do scale than beating her bloody and lower than using minimal force to prevent her from doing so (since he was clearly in a position to apply such force).
