That more or less illustrates the problem - if your problem solving method depends upon deciding that a person has a race or sexual orientation, then any data will be used to support whatever they might suppose might be likely.
But I did not ask about instances where people have a race and sexual orientation without stating anywhere what they are - I asked about instances where the person concerned does not have a race or sexual orientation at all.
Is that a thing? I am guessing Facebook wouldn’t take money from the KKK.
But at the same time, misuse of a tool by the fringe. doesn’t necessarily make the tool bad.
ETA - ANY demographic collection and application can be misused by anyone for nefarious means. Not sure this makes it “bad”. I am guessing 99% of the time in this case it is trying to find people who will buy their stuff via targeted ads.
My assumption is that every FB user’s race = human.
Except for any bots; but then again I’d assume that they’d make up the bulk of FB users without any sexual orientation.
