France bans use of meat words like "steak" and "sausage" on fake meat products

My wife and I still get a chuckle out of the time she ordered chicken fried steak, and after the first bite she had a very confused look on her face. “Wait… I don’t think this is chicken?”

But good lord it was funny, not something that made us say “there oughtta be a law!”

And honestly people can just read the ingredients. People should read the ingredients. That’s why they are there! We made a law saying the ingredients have to be listed, and here we are 50 years later and it’s like “no, we’re still going to make you jump through that hoop but don’t want to have to read that, that’s too much work to take responsibility for our own purchases. I’m busy and I demand to be able to buy $100 worth of groceries in 5 minutes and I can’t do that if I have to look at what I’m actually buying!”
