Heck, He’s supposed to know if you have sin in your heart, if you even think about adultery. The “god can’t hear your prayers (begging him not to kill you) if you wear a mask” is weaker than the average evangelical preacher weak sauce.
I suppose the other issue is that according to Christian doctrine all disease is because god decided to punish Adam and Eve and every generation of their descendants with disease, suffering and death for eating a piece of fruit. (It’s archetypal tale of an abuser blaming His victims for His own violence.) So, interfering with a disease that would kill you is interfering with the Divine Punishment you deserve for being the a descendant of people who wickedly ate a piece of fruit. How dare you!
