Meanwhile, I don’t think that’s the only legitimate way to interpret Jackson’s 23-year-old comment. How can you be sure that what he was lamenting was the supposed reality of that fear, and not instead the fact that even black people (such as Jackson himself) are susceptible to such fearful, unfair, white stereotypes about black men?
