Good grief: Charlie Brown's Halloween special not airing on TV for the first time since 1966

I suddenly have a hankerin’ for a Dolly Madison product.

I’ve seen it once and… I don’t understand the appeal. Is it just an annual ritual that’s only meaningful to those in the US?

I feel sorry for all the generations whose brains don’t get a flood of dopamine when they hear this intro

Yeah but that cuts both ways, I remember discovering that “A CBS Special” was not always equal to “A Peanuts Special” (nor, for that matter, “A Rankin-Bass special.”)

A lot of those were downers.

Well

  • yes

but also

  • the first one, the Christmas show, was a real work of art

  • Peanuts was a big deal for multiple generations of newspaper comic readers

  • there wasn’t much decent animation on TV back in the day, so anything we had seemed special

Just buy the dvd at this point or the digital version. I mean we complain about cable the and talk about cutting the cord right?

Change happens. Things move forward. It’s not the end of the world.

Nice while it lasted. Appelschiste!

I see what you did there

Part of the hate is due to their “unique” streaming service - no Android client, no way to cast/Airplay to the bulk of TVs/STBs/streaming sticks, and the premium price for their hardware to stream. Compare and contrast Netflix, Amazon, Disney + etc. Apple TV+ is a ball-ache.

It’s like the really want people to pirate their content.

Apple TV is available on other TV’s nowadays and no longer exclusive to Apple products.

It’s on some new TV’s from LG, Sony and Samsung and some STB/Sticks like I mentioned. But no Android client smacks of being churlish.
