From the things they said about him before, it’s fairly clear to me that they think he would be a disaster and only changed their position out of party loyalty. It seems to me if you say “Donald Trump is a madman who must be stopped.” you probably think Clinton isn’t as bad. So no, I do not think there is any internal consistency to their positions. In fact, Rubio flat out said he’s voting for Trump only because he signed a pledge to vote for the party nominee. This is just simple partisanship and a desire to hold on to power in an increasingly insane and irrelevant political party.
