Missouri did and didn’t join the Confederacy. There were 2 governors during the war, with the pro Confederacy government in exile in Arkansas. And of course the Youngers are buried in the Lee’s Summit Historic Cemetery. I just checked the city’s website, and they have both name origins listed, with no definitive statement as to which is correct.
