That’s not entirely true. If you come from a no name college as an engineer fresh out of said college you’ll be passed by for someone from a more “credible” school even if both are accredited by the same organizations. I’ve seen this quite a bit among engineers and software developers (being one myself). Background as in which school you went to as much affect on your hiring outcomes as does supposed performance. Not to mention, there’s plenty of racialized biases against PoC who aren’t east Asian.
