I’d say perfumes work as chemical weapons.
I once installed adblock+ on a friends computer after they asked me to look at why it was running so slowly.
They later asked me where all the ads had gone and got me to uninstall it. I tried to convince them to leave it on and showed them how to use it but they wanted it gone.
They missed the ads. :shrugs:
“Save” online advertising? Why the heck would I want to do that? I’d rather save scabies.
Same here. It was a bitch to fix. And I noticed recently that they’re trying to shame those of us who use adblockers into turning them off. I loled. I don’t go there often anymore, but I’ve noticed that they seem to be descending into the murky world of advertorials. Wired is another big offender there.
Now this is an idea I can get behind. Every site having their own payment system would be a nightmare.

My mother had to unsubscribe to all her women’s magazines after she developed multiple chemical sensitivities. She’d be in bed for a week with migraines after being exposed. Problem is every doctor’s and dentist’s waiting room is stuffed full of these same magazines.
Even WIRED for christ’s sake has perfume ads with the fold out scent sample. I have the March 2015 sitting on my desk and i keep getting wiffs of gross Bleu De Channel
This is unfortunately an inevitable consequence of being paid by the advertisers not the readers.
Apparently an even bigger threat to online advertising then ad blockers is that the largest consumer and clicker of online ads are randomized proxied bots giving false clickthroughs to increase advertiser payout…basically the entire system is f’ed from all sides and unrecoverable. GOOD RIDDANCE!
