How to teach gerrymandering and its many subtle, hard problems

I lived in Austin for over 30 years and Lloyd Doggett was my Representative for most of that time. Then I was gerrymandered into the current 10th District that picks up a few Austin neighborhoods that are predominately Democrat and mixes them with Republican areas that stretch all the way to Houston. Representative Mike McCaul is an affluent (richest in Congress) playboy who does not represent anyone because he’s in a safe Republican District. How is this in any way representative government?

Dude, we may be neighbors!

Well, it is more of a curiosity if you live in a system with proportional representation.

We probably were! I lived in Allandale a long time, then in the Arboretum area for a few years. I moved to DC three years ago where I now have no representation in congress at all! Oh the irony, the humanity!
